What Successful People Do?

From Abbey Placemats.com

I've been reading about what successful people do.

Over time I've noticed that strategies are similar across most successful people.

Today I will share the first strategy that most successful people do.

TRACKING

Why does this work?

It's accountability.

How does this work?

1. Identify habits that you want to add.

2. Decide the quantity or quality.

3. Grab a calendar.

4. Decide if it's a daily thing or a weekly thing or somewhere in between.

5. Set the goal.

6. Mark the completion of the goal on the calendar.  (an "x" a "check mark" or a happy face)

Who Uses Tracking Calendars?

1. Jerry Seinfeld - Early in his career he set a goal to write a joke every day. He marked an x on his calendar for every day he did this. Guess what? He rarely missed a day.  Check here to find out how one person applied this strategy.

2. James Clear - He schedules his blog posts for Mondays and Thursdays. He never deviates...so his blogging gets done.

3.  Me -  I have been using a calendar to record my steps and  dog walking.  Now I need to set a goal for steps, not just record it.  I've decided to average my last five days of walking and set a number goal higher than that. Yes, I know 10, 000 is great goal. But I have also read recently that when starting something new, you should hold back 50-75%. Why? So you can actually build momentum and not fizzle out from a fast dash.

What can you track?

1.  Fitbit steps
2. Water consumption
3. Words written
4. Exercise minutes.
5. Anything...that you want to add to your life.

I realize that activity/web trackers track this info...but the act of making an "X' on a calendar is much more satisfying.

Check out this movie trailer from a movie staring Sarah Jessica Parker - If Lucy Fell... In the movie there is a giant wall calendar....that's always an option!!

Until Next time....
